DMARC monitoring: nobody sends email in your name any more
Insight into and control over who sends email on behalf of your email domain, so criminals can no longer send email in your name.
The problem
Criminals like to send email in the name of an existing company. An invoice with a different account number, or a request to quickly sign in: if the email appears to come from a known sender, people fall for it more easily. Without protection, it is surprisingly easy to send email with your domain name as the sender.
DMARC monitoring makes your email communication more secure. It gives you control and insight, so that only legitimate senders can send email on behalf of your organisation. We set it up, keep watch and tighten the protection step by step.
What will you notice?
Nothing changes for your staff. What you do notice: less fake email in your name, and the certainty of knowing who sends email on behalf of your organisation.
What it does for you
How DMARC monitoring helps you
- 01
No fake email in your name
Email that does not really come from your organisation is blocked by the recipient. This prevents customers and suppliers from falling for a phishing email sent in your name.
- 02
See who sends email on your behalf
You get insight into all the services that send email using your domain name, such as your mailbox, newsletter service or invoicing software.
- 03
Better delivery of your own email
Large email providers are setting ever stricter requirements for senders. With a properly configured DMARC, your own email lands in the inbox more often and in spam less often.
How it works
How we arrange it
Not a technical story, but what happens and who does what.
Plan an introduction- Step 1
Mapping it out
We find out which services send email on behalf of your domain. There are often more than you think.
- Step 2
Setting up
We set up SPF, DKIM and DMARC for your domain, so that recipients can check whether an email really comes from you.
- Step 3
We keep watch
The monitoring collects the reports from receiving mail servers and shows who is sending email on behalf of your domain. We keep watch and step in if anything stands out.
- Step 4
Stricter step by step
Once all genuine senders are set up correctly, we tighten the protection step by step, until email that does not come from you is rejected.
Frequently asked questions
Questions about DMARC monitoring
Is your question not listed? Feel free to call us, we are happy to think along with you.
What is DMARC?
DMARC is a setting for your domain name that tells receiving mail servers what to do with email that pretends to come from you, but does not. It works together with SPF and DKIM. Our knowledge base article explains exactly how this works.
Why per domain name?
DMARC is set up and monitored per email domain. If you send email from several domains, we protect each domain. A proposal assumes one domain; if you have more, we include them.
Is this included in your proposal as standard?
Yes. We always include DMARC monitoring in a proposal for Modern Workplace, because fake email in your organisation's name is one of the most common forms of fraud.
